Act On Climate Rally in Edmonton April 11th, 1:00 p.m. Front steps Alberta Legislature.
Alberta Tar Sands Network
On April 11, 2015 people from all across the country are rallying together to put pressure on the heads of Canada’s provinces and territories who will be meeting in Quebec City on April 14th. The people helping to run our country are set to meet with the only item on the agenda being climate change. Before they meet concerned Canadians will be gathering in cities large and small across this country with the largest turn out set to be in Quebec City itself.
The federal government continues to stall action on climate mostly due to the its unbridled support for tar sands development, the fastest rising source of greenhouse gas emissions in the country and one of Canada’s largest emitters. The rallies hope to send a clear message to provincial and federal leaders: You cannot be a climate leader while supporting tar sands pipelines that further accelerate the problem.
In Edmonton we are holding a rally in solidarity with the massive march that will be happening in Quebec City (http://act-on-climate.ca).
