65 Million Girls Denied Education

Imagine a girl in Colombia. She can’t attend school since her family has been displaced because of ongoing violent conflict. It’s too dangerous to get to school, the cost is high and her family needs her to work. This is an all too common story for a Colombian girl. Conflict has not only displaced millions, but it has also severely affected a girl’s chance at receiving an education. This isn’t fair.

65 million girls around the world are denied an education. That’s nearly 1 in 5 girls who instead of learning to read and write, are unable to attend school because of numerous barriers to access. But by targeting girls and enabling women with the power of a full education, the world stands to prosper!

When a girl doesn’t attend school she marries earlier, is vulnerable to exploitation and earns a lower income. Ultimately, she is unable to unleash her full potential. Sending girls to school has the power to lift girls out of poverty. Just one extra year of schooling increases a girl’s income, their household’s child survival rate and when more girls go to school, even their country’s GDP increases.

Unleash a girl’s full potential by sending her to school!       “Alex”
